Applications are invited from Bhutanese nationals aged 18-30 years at the time of nomination for the SAARC Youth Award 2014. The theme of the SAARC Youth Award 2014 is “Youth Leadership in Print and Electronic Media”. Therefore, the award will be given to an outstanding youth of South Asia who has made significant contributions and shown leadership in Print and electronic media.
As directed by the 30th Session of the Council of Ministers, every alternate year will be dedicated to a young woman. The 2014 Youth Award is announced only for young women of South Asia.
- The award is open to only young women of SAARC member States who are within the age group of 18-30 years at the time of nomination.
- Outstanding contribution to the Media Literacy eradicating social ills and promoting social welfare and common good.

- A citation in English
- A SAARC Gold Medal
- A Cash prize of US$3000.00 (Three thousand US Dollars)
- Per Diem and return air ticket for travel to the venue of the presentation of the award.

This is to kindly inform all youth who have registered for Social Auditing Training that the programme will be organized by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in RIM from 4-9 Sept., 2014. ACC is pleased to inform all the registered participants that 50% of the DSA i.e. Nu.500/day will be paid to those coming from Thimphu whereas those coming from outside Thimphu will be paid full DSA, i.e. Nu.1000/day. Below is a video clip of Summer Youth Programme 2014 organized by Harmony Youth Volunteers of Youth Center Division, Dept. of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education. The programme was designed to engage youth productively during their summer vacation and also to give them opportunities to acquire new skills and values through a wide range of activities. The programme was organized from 2-11 July 2014 at Harmony: the Centenary Youth Village in Thimphu. The video presents photographic evidences of various activities conducted as part of the programme. The whole programme was planned and implemented by Harmony Youth Volunteers, a group of youth volunteers of Youth Center Division. Preparations are going in full swing at Harmony: the Centenary Youth Village for the celebration of International Youth Day tomorrow. Every year, 12th August is designated by UN as International Youth Day and this year, the day will be observed on the theme “Youth and Mental Health” under the slogan “Mental Health Matters”. In Thimphu, the Youth Center Division, Dept. of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education is coordinating the event as usual. In keeping with the theme, the focus of the celebration is on educating our youth on the importance of mental health and mental health issues since people with mental health conditions are more likely to face social exclusions and stigma. The occasion will be graced by Hon’ble Dasho Neten Zangmo, Chairperson of Anti-Corruption Commission. The programme shall officially kick off at 09:30 AM and will continue till 12:30 pm. The programme consists of a youth panel discussion moderated by Namgay Zam, who was working with BBSC before, a skit by youth volunteers and presentation of the survey on mental health among youth in Thimphu undertaken by youth volunteers. In total, about 200 youth will be participating in the morning programme.
In the afternoon from 02:00 – 05:00, we have several interesting activities for young people in general and any youth can take part in the activities. We have different stalls by different youth groups, each providing different recreational and educational activities including interactive games, movie screening, music and dance, etc. So, we welcome all interested young people to be part of the afternoon programme.

The Youth Center Division, Dept. of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education successfully conducted a day-long youth forum on “Promoting Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing” on Sunday, 8th June 2014.
This is to kindly inform all that the Youth Center Division, Dept. of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education is organizing a day-long youth forum on Promoting Youth Mental Health on Sunday, 8th June 2014 in 8 youth centers: Harmony Youth Center, Chang Jiji, Gelephu, Zhemgang, Phuntsholing, Paro, Trashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar Youth Centers. Resource people from relevant field will be invited to facilitate the programme. The main objective of organizing such a forum is to educate the youth of Bhutan on prevention and treatment of common mental health problems including anxiety, depression, eating and substance use disorders. It is hoped that such a programme will help our young people maintain good mental health and live a content life.
